Roaring Knight Fight
Undertale Text Box Generator
Three lines, an asterisk at the start of each, and the box the Knight fight never fills with chatter.
Write the line
You are on box 1, and that is the only one.
When a line runs long, Next box opens the following box. Rows that omit the opening mark get one added. The PNG is taken from the box you are viewing, including while the letters are still appearing.
Saved PNGs carry roaringknightfight.com in the bottom corner, off the letters.
In the overworld the frame sits at the bottom of the screen. Walk low and it jumps to the top so it does not cover you. The edge is white, the field is black, and a face on the left shoves the words to the right. Z or Enter brings the next three lines.
Above ground, Deltarune keeps the same thin frame the overworld uses. On a 640 by 480 screen that Undertale edge is six pixels. A Dark World box is wider, and its rim is thinner: four pixels of white, then a two-pixel lavender line, with a jewel on every corner. The corner gems here are our own drawing, not the game's sprites. Use that shape when the line belongs to a Knight encounter you are writing. The battle itself gives you Check and Hold Breath. Check never tells you who is inside the helmet, and Talk from Susie or Ralsei does not move the Knight. Susie, Ralsei, and Lancer open a Dark World line with an asterisk and a space. Both of these frames keep that opening mark. The speech is one you wrote for the encounter.
Spamton NEO, the Chaos King, and Lancer are browser fights at Deltarune Fight.
FAQ
How many lines fit in an Undertale text box?
Three. The overworld box has room for three rows, and Z or Enter brings the next three. Here, Next box and Previous box move between boxes, and Download and Copy image save the box on screen.
Why does the line start with an asterisk?
On signs, from townsfolk, and in battle, a spoken line opens with that mark. Put one at the start of each line. If you leave it off, the box adds it. Button prompts in the game's text are a backslash, an asterisk, and a letter. An asterisk you type stays a character on the row.
What is the difference between the Undertale box and the Dark World box?
On a 640 by 480 screen the Undertale overworld edge is six white pixels around a black field, 288 by 75 game pixels. Walk low and that frame jumps to the top so it does not cover you. The Dark World box is wider, and on that same screen its rim is thinner: four white pixels plus a two-pixel lavender line. The corners on this box are original drawings, so a Knight line can use the shape without the game's border art.
Can I put the Roaring Knight in the box?
The Knight has no talking lines in that battle. Susie can try Talk once and Ralsei can try it too, and neither one moves the Knight. Check never tells you who is inside the helmet. The portraits are original stand-ins: a wanderer, a plain helm, a mask, and a sprout. None of the faces are Susie, Ralsei, Lancer, or the Knight. Leave the portrait off when the line is narration.
How do I save the box and send it?
The PNG button writes 1×, or nearest-neighbor 2× and 3×, so the pixels stay square. Copy image puts that PNG on the clipboard when the browser allows it. The address bar keeps the frame, the portrait, the typing, the size, and the words, so Copy link hands someone the same setup.
Does the typing match the games?
Turn it on and the letters arrive one at a time, the way a line arrives in Undertale and in Deltarune. While letters are still arriving, the saved file already contains the whole open box. If motion is reduced, every letter of the open box appears together.
